SpreadEval is a Google Sheets add-on for rating AI outputs. This page explains what it can access and what it does with it.

What SpreadEval accesses

Where your data goes

Everything stays in your own Google account: your sheets, the rater sheets, forms and exports. SpreadEval keeps no copy of your rows, answers or prompts.

If you choose Show on the website for a sheet, the add-on sends that sheet's summary numbers to the SpreadEval website so you can see all your evals in one place: its name and link, the template, row counts by status, the AI agreement rate, and each rater's name or email with their counts and test-row accuracy. It is signed with your Google identity so only you see it. Remove the sheet on the website and the add-on stops sending.

If you choose Share results for an eval on the website, you get a link anyone can open. It shows that eval's summary numbers and the count of answers per option only, never rows, answers, or who rated. Turning sharing off, removing the eval from the website, or deleting your account kills the link.

The summary also lists the rows waiting for review by their row id, rater and status only, never their content or answers. If you connect an AI agent (Agents page), the changes it asks for, such as a rater's level, a review rule or a decision on a row id, wait on the website until your sheet's next sync applies them, and the website keeps a short record of each change and how it went.

The one exception is the AI features, which you turn on yourself. When you run the AI judge, or ask the AI to design a template or rating screen, the rows you choose (text, and links to any images) are sent to the AI provider whose API key you entered (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini or OpenRouter). That provider's own privacy policy then applies to that request. Your key is stored in your Google account's private settings for this add-on and is not shared with anyone else.

If you use the AI features without your own key (the built-in AI), each request goes through the SpreadEval website on its way to Anthropic's API. The website passes it on in memory and does not store it; it keeps only a monthly count of requests, for your plan's fair-use limit.

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe. SpreadEval stores your Stripe customer ID and plan, never your card details.

To show images in rater forms and open trace files, the add-on downloads each link in your sheet. Links outside Google go through the SpreadEval website, which fetches public addresses only and does not store what it fetches.

Templates you make or change with AI in a sheet, and templates you choose Share this template for, are saved to your account on the SpreadEval website: the name, description, the column names they expect, the questions, the guidelines and any rating screen you built. No rows are sent. If you also offer one to the public gallery, our staff review it, and once approved anyone using SpreadEval can see and use it, without your name or email. You can rename, download or remove your saved templates on the website's Templates page.

If you connect your own AI app (for example Claude or ChatGPT) to SpreadEval and open Design a template with AI in a sheet, the add-on sends that sheet's name, its column names and the template it uses to the SpreadEval website, so your AI can read them. If you leave "Let my AI see 3 sample rows" on, it also sends the first 3 rows (each cell cut to 1,500 characters). Your AI app reads these through the connection you allowed; that app's own privacy policy then applies. The website keeps this design session for one day. You can disconnect an AI app at any time on the website's Agents page.

Sharing

When you add a rater by email, SpreadEval shares their own sheet with them. It never shares your main sheet unless you add someone as a reviewer.

Use of Google user data

SpreadEval's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Your data is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train AI models by SpreadEval.

Removing your data

Uninstall the add-on from Extensions > Add-ons > Manage add-ons, and remove its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The sheets, forms and files it made are ordinary files in your Drive, and you can delete them anytime.

To delete your website account, open the Plan page on the website and choose Delete my account. That removes everything the website stores about you at once: linked evals and their summary numbers, saved templates, agent tokens and design sessions. Templates you published to the gallery stay available, without your name or email. Your spreadsheets are yours in Google Drive and are not touched.
